Vaibhav’s IPL Debut made history as the 14-year-old prodigy, aged just 14 years and 23 days, became the youngest player ever to feature in the IPL, batting for Rajasthan Royals against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur on Saturday during IPL 2025. The left-handed sensation smashed a six off his very first ball from Shardul Thakur, showcasing Vaibhav’s IPL Debut with fearless flair.
He followed up with another six and a four off Avesh Khan in the second over, thrilling the crowd. Secured by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.10 crore on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction in Jeddah, Vaibhav’s IPL Debut came after RR outbid Delhi Capitals, who withdrew after RR’s Rs 1.10 crore bid for the teen star.
Born in 2011, Vaibhav began displaying his cricketing flair at just 4 years old, setting the stage for Vaibhav’s IPL Debut. His father, Sanjeev, spotted his passion early and created a small practice pitch in their backyard to nurture his talent.
When he was just 9, Vaibhav’s father signed him up for a cricket academy in Samastipur, near their hometown. It quickly became clear that Vaibhav’s Early Cricket Talent far surpassed his peers, catching the eye of coaches and locals alike.
After two and a half years of training at the Samastipur academy, Vaibhav’s IPL Debut journey took shape as he tried out for the Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, he shared with the Times of India.
His young age left him on standby, but under the guidance of Manish Ojha, a former Ranji player, his skills flourished. “Ojha sir taught me everything, and I owe my success to him,” Vaibhav said, crediting his coach for shaping Vaibhav’s Early Cricket Journey.
Vaibhav’s IPL Debut Rooted in Early Triumphs
At just 12, Vaibhav played for Bihar in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, amassing nearly 400 runs in five matches, a feat that foreshadowed Vaibhav’s IPL Debut. His meteoric ascent through Bihar Cricket ranks turned heads, marking Vaibhav’s Rapid Cricket Rise as he dazzled with prodigious talent across tournaments.
At just 12, Vaibhav debuted for Bihar, swiftly carving out a reputation in cricket circles, setting the stage for Vaibhav’s IPL Debut. His latest feat, a stunning 58-ball ton against Australia’s U-19 side in a four-day match in Chennai, cemented Vaibhav’s Rising Star Status.
He also represented India B U-19 in a quadrangular series in Mulapadu, Andhra Pradesh, in November 2023, showcasing his immense potential.
At 12 years and 284 days, Vaibhav became India’s youngest first-class debutant since 1986, and the second-youngest to play in a Ranji Trophy match for Bihar, paving the way for Vaibhav’s IPL Debut. His Vaibhav’s Record-Breaking Debut underscored his prodigious talent, marking him as a generational star.
In September this year, Vaibhav played for India U-19 debut in a youth Test match against Australia in Chennai. He hit an impressive 62-ball 104 before getting run out.
The young ”a”e”t’s consistent performance and dedication have now secured him a place in the India U-19 squad. An IPL selection might not be too far away either.
