A pre-dawn stampede at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj occurred as millions of devotees rushed for the Amrit snan on Mauni Amavasya. The crowd swelled beyond control, leaving no exit space for those who had already taken the dip.

30 Dead, 60 Injured in Stampede

The stampede, which happened between 2 AM and 2:30 AM, resulted in 30 deaths and over 60 injuries. Ambulances rushed the injured to Central Hospital at Mahakumbh Nagar, while authorities struggled to manage the situation.

Rituals Postponed, Bathing Resumes

Following the tragedy, the Amrit snan was temporarily postponed but resumed later in the afternoon. Devotees continued bathing at the Sangam and other ghats, though in a more controlled manner.
