Chiefs’ Clyde Edwards-Helaire on NFI list, out at least 4 games

Last month, Edwards-Helaire gave a precise date, Dec. 22, 2018, as the start of his experience with PTSD. He didn’t elaborate much beyond that, only saying he and a friend found themselves in a “self-defense situation.” Edwards-Helaire was in college at LSU at the time.

Police said two LSU football players were trying to sell electronics that day when one of them shot an 18-year-old man who was trying to rob them. Police did not identify the players, but the Associated Press reported Edwards-Helaire was one of them.

Edwards-Helaire was the Chiefs’ first-round draft pick in 2020 and was their starting running back in his first two seasons. He lost the starting job to then-rookie Isiah Pacheco It was made a reserve in 2022 and has remained a reserve since then.

The Chiefs have two running backs other than Pacheco on the active roster. One, a veteran Samaje PerinRecently added after he was released Denver Broncos. Other, Carson Steeleis a player who joined the team after a strong training camp and preseason.
