TMC Alleges ‘Ulterior Political Motives’ in Junior Doctors’ Standoff with Bengal Govt as of 11 Sep 2024.

In a recent development, TMC minister Chandrima Bhattacharya has accused the junior doctors protesting against the Bengal government of harboring “ulterior political motives.” She urged the doctors to resume their “noble duties” while addressing the ongoing standoff over the terms of engagement for discussions.

Political Allegations Amid Health Crisis

In a video shared by the TMC on social media platform X, Bhattacharya stated that the Bengal government is ready for “unconditional discussions” but questioned the delay in the junior doctors’ response to an email invite sent by the health secretary. Bhattacharya emphasized that sending an email to the CMO at 3:45 am shows a possible political agenda behind the protests.

TMC’s Call for Action

Bhattacharya called on the protesting junior doctors to reconsider their stance and participate in talks without any preconditions, urging them to prioritize their professional responsibilities and the public’s health needs. The minister hinted that the delayed response may be an attempt to politicize the issue and prolong the standoff.
