Kailash Gahlot joins BJP a day after resigning from AAP, citing the party’s drift from core values. Arvind Kejriwal responds, saying Gahlot can choose his path.
Kailash Gahlot Joins BJP
Former Delhi transport minister and key Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kailash Gahlot has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just a day after resigning from AAP. Gahlot joined BJP in a ceremony attended by Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva. He said it was not an easy decision, as he had been with AAP since the days of Anna Hazare’s movement.
Reasons for Leaving AAP
Addressing the media, Gahlot denied claims that his decision was influenced by pressure from agencies like the ED or CBI. He emphasized that AAP had moved away from its founding principles. Gahlot criticized AAP for focusing more on political agendas rather than serving the people. “Political ambitions have taken precedence over public welfare,” he added.
Kejriwal’s Response to Gahlot’s Departure
AAP’s national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, reacted to the development, stating that Gahlot is free to make his own decisions. Kejriwal said, “He can go wherever he wants,” indicating his nonchalance over the resignation.
Controversies and Unmet Promises
Gahlot’s resignation letter also highlighted controversies surrounding AAP and unfulfilled promises to the people of Delhi. He expressed that party workers were disappointed, and their sentiments aligned with his.
