The committee will be headed by Dr Puneet Kaur, head of the department of biophysics. The panel will include representatives from FAIMS, Resident Doctors Association, Students Union, Nurses Union and Society of Young Scientists.
The Committee will visit AIIMS campuses including outreach campuses like NCI Jhajjar, Haryana, NDDTC Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, CRHSP Ballabhgarh, Haryana etc. during day and night and survey the security measures.
The Committee will also discuss the additional security measures required in the AIIMS campus and submit its recommendations for early implementation.
He said, “The Government of India is fully committed to the safety of healthcare professionals and the Supreme Court has assured positive action to ensure the safety of healthcare professionals and has requested all doctors to return to duty in the interest of patient care.”
He said, “Resident doctors of AIIMS New Delhi are requested to return to their duties immediately so that patient care services can be restored to normal.”
Another four-member committee, comprising Dean (Academics), Dean (Research), Medical Superintendent and Chief Security Officer, has been constituted to address the immediate concerns of the health professionals of the institute.
Further, an office order said that the AIIMS Director has visited the hospital premises several times and observed that at times the same outsiders are found entering and exiting various buildings in the guise of patient attendants, delivery agents, etc, giving rise to the suspicion that such persons are brokers or impersonators frequently visiting the premises.
Security staff have also expressed difficulty in identifying such frequent visitors as they are on shift duty and it is not possible for them to raise suspicion, which at times inconveniences genuine visitors and attendants of patients.
There have been reports from other important hospitals too, where such unauthorised personnel have caused huge losses to patients and there have been reports of patients being misled and duped at times even in AIIMS.
“It has been decided to install aluminium-mounted CCTV cameras at major entry and exit points of the Mother and Child Block on a pilot basis. Such cameras will be able to identify all visitors with facial recognition technology and will help the security staff to identify which persons are making frequent entries and exits, thereby helping them to keep a check on unauthorised persons,” the order said.
