Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed a five-year deal to sign the Gambia winger Yankuba Minteh He is from Newcastle United, the club announced on Sunday.

The 19-year-old joins the club on loan after a successful season at Feyenoord, who finished Eredivisie runners-up, where he made 37 appearances in all competitions and scored 10 league goals.

Brighton have agreed a £30 million ($37m) fee with Newcastle. Eddie Howe's side wanted to make a big sale by the end of June to avoid the possibility of breaking Premier League profit and sustainability rules.

“Yankuba is a young talent who has attracted a lot of interest and we are delighted to welcome him to the club,” Brighton technical director David Weir said in a statement.

Minteh joined Danish team Odense BK in 2022, then signed for Newcastle in 2023 and was then loaned to Feyenoord.

He scored against Celtic in the Champions League and has played seven international matches for Gambia, scoring three goals.
