The Indian trio of Dhanush Srikanth, Shaurya Saini and Mohammad Murtaza Vania made a clean sweep in the 10m air rifle men’s event on the second day of the 2nd World Deaf Shooting Championship 2024 held in Hannover, Germany. Mahit Sandhu and Natasha Joshi also won silver and bronze in the women’s event, taking India’s tally to five medals to add to the four (one gold, two silver and one bronze) won on the first day of the competition.
Dhanush created double deaf shooting world records on the same day, shooting 632.7 to top the qualification round and then shooting 251.7 in the final to finish second behind compatriot Saurya (249.9). Mohammed Murtaza had earlier won the bronze medal with 226.2.
India has named a 16-member team for the 2nd World Deaf Shooting Championship 2024. The Indians made a great start by winning one gold, two silver and one bronze medal on the first day of the competition.
Anuya Prasad won the gold medal in women’s 10 meter air pistol. At the same time, India also made it to the podium twice in men’s 10 meter air pistol. Abhinav Deshwal won silver and Shubham Vashisht won bronze. Both of them won the team silver medal along with Chetan Sakpal. This championship will run till September 7. Indian shooters will participate in air rifle and air pistol events.
