According to sources, the agency has collected banking and medical purchase documents related to the hospital and medical college from “various sources” and may soon issue summons to the accused for questioning and recording their statements.

He said that the accused in the ED case are the same people whose names are mentioned in the CBI complaint.

In its FIR, filed on the direction of the Calcutta High Court, the CBI has registered a case against Ghosh and three Kolkata-based private entities – Ma Tara Traders, Madhya Jhorehat, Banipur, Howrah; Ishan Cafe, 4/1, Belgachhia and Khama Louha.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered the case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating) and section 7 (offence relating to bribery of public servant) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The CBI on Sunday raided the premises of Ghosh, former medical superintendent Sanjay Vasisht and 13 others in and around Kolkata as part of its probe into alleged financial irregularities at the institute, which is under the scanner after the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee woman doctor on August 9.

During Sunday’s searches, a CBI official had told reporters that “there was a lot.”
