after the trailer release Kalki 2898 ADHollywood concept artists Oliver Beck and Sung Choi on Twitter accused Vyjayanthi Movies (the film's producers) of plagiarizing their artwork. Indian ExpressOliver said that its producer Kalki 2898 AD He had initially approached her to collaborate on the film. However, after negotiations fell through, he alleged similarities with his work in the trailer, which was released on June 10.

Both Oliver Baek and Sung Choi compared their original pictures to the frames from the trailer. Although Sung Choi later deleted his tweet, Oliver continued to accuse its makers. Kalki 2898 ADHe said, “Sung Choi wrote on Twitter about his work being plagiarized in the trailer of Kalki 2898 AD and then I clicked on the trailer and saw that it was inspired by my work.”

He elaborated, “It can be hard to spot plagiarism when you’re not an artist. You may not see it right away, but all my artist friends that I have spoken to and the artist community are very clear that it is referenced from my work and you can clearly see that the main things are the colour palette, it’s the same, and also the shapes. It’s not an exact copy, but the shapes are similar. It’s a huge coincidence because they approached me to work on this film. So, they know my portfolio and they have seen my work, so it’s a huge coincidence.”

When asked if he would take any legal action against the creators, Oliver explained the difficulty he faced as his work was not directly copied. “Legal remedies are challenging for me as my artwork cannot be directly copied. Legal action usually requires very obvious plagiarism, such as in the case of Sung Choi where the work was practically copy-pasted,” he explained.

Oliver concluded, “This is the first time that one of my artworks has been copied on such a large scale. It has happened before, but they were very small things. This is the first time my work has been copied in an Indian film.”
