India vs Afghanistan, Super 8 T20 World Cup Live Score: All eyes will be on Virat Kohli, eager to return to form after a drought, and left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav hoping for an opportunity as favourites India take on Afghanistan in their opening Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup today.

The main topic of discussion ahead of the match is the composition of the Indian team. According to PTI, India will have to decide whether it wants to play with the same line-up that saw success in the group stage or include its top spinner from last year, Kuldeep Yadav, possibly in place of a fast bowler.

At the start of the tournament, captain Rohit Sharma had expressed interest in playing all four all-rounders – Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja.

This approach has worked in the bowler-friendly conditions in New York and Rohit is likely to stick with a team that promotes his batting up to No. 8.

To include Kuldeep, India will have to drop either Mohammed Siraj or Arshdeep Singh, as Siraj is more likely to be benched.

Recent practice sessions suggest that the pitch could be helpful for spinners, which could strengthen Kuldeep's claim. Also, the light breeze at the Kensington Oval could help the fast bowlers swing the ball during the powerplay.

All eyes will be on Kohli, who is yet to score double figures in the tournament. His aggressive approach did not work in New York, but he is expected to perform better on the Caribbean grounds. The 35-year-old Kohli is known for his high intensity and dedication, as displayed during training sessions.

Afghanistan reached the Super 8s after a crushing defeat to the West Indies in St Lucia. Their initially dominant bowling attack was demolished by West Indies' powerful batting line-up.

Captain Rashid Khan termed the defeat as a minor setback and said that Afghanistan still has a strong chance of reaching the semi-finals.

Rashid said, “As a bowler you have to plan to keep the score under 10. The morale is still very high and this defeat has not affected us at all. We have achieved our first target of reaching the Super 8 and now it is time to take the next step.”

Rashid will rely heavily on left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi, who has been brilliant in the powerplay and is the tournament's highest wicket-taker with 12 wickets. Farooqi's ability to swing the ball back will be a big challenge for Rohit and Kohli.

Rashid himself will also aim to take wickets while maintaining a low economy rate in the middle overs.
