India's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah praised captain Rohit Sharma and said that 37-year-old Rohit Sharma has performed brilliantly. In the current T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma is currently the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament. He scored 248 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 155.97. In a video shared on the official Instagram account of ICC, Bumrah said that Rohit was very active in the last ODI World Cup 2023. Bumrah revealed that the Indian captain gave a lot of freedom to his players.

Bumrah said, “Rohit Sharma's performance has been absolutely fantastic. He has been very active in the last World Cup as well. He gives a lot of freedom to his players. He lets the players express themselves. When he feels the right time, he shares his experience during the match. So, it is really great and I am very happy to play under his leadership and the team's confidence is also very high.”

Earlier, former England captain Nasser Hussain had said that he has liked the Indian captain for a long time for his batting and leadership abilities. The former cricketer said that Rohit Sharma is like an iron fist in a velvet glove.

“I have been a fan of Rohit for a very long time, as a batsman, as a captain and as a person. He has a very calming effect. Whereas you had other captains, maybe like Virat, who would speak their hearts out and they were incredibly emotional. Rohit is like an iron fist in a velvet glove. You can't mess with Rohit, but he is like a big brother who will put his arm around you and take care of you,” Nasir said.

Both South Africa and India have had different performances in the tournament. The Rohit Sharma-led side has dominated all the teams they have faced in the tournament, including heavyweights like Australia, Pakistan and England.

While the Proteas have missed out on reaching the final by the tiniest of margins on several occasions, they were given tough competition by Bangladesh and Nepal in the group stage. In their final game of the Super 8s against co-hosts West Indies, they nearly faced elimination while chasing a revised target of 123.

India Team: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (Wicketkeeper), Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dubey, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson, Mohammed Siraj and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
