External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar arrived in Islamabad to attend the 23rd Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government. This visit marks a significant step, as it’s the first senior Indian official visit to Pakistan in almost a decade.

First Indian High-Level Visit to Pakistan in Nine Years

Jaishankar’s visit is especially noteworthy as it’s the first high-level interaction since 2015 when former Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj visited Islamabad. Despite strained relations, this neutral platform provided by the SCO opens the floor for future diplomatic engagement.
