Jaishankar SCO Visit: First Indian External Affairs Minister’s Visit to Pakistan in Nearly a Decade
The Jaishankar-SCO visit will see India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S Jaishankar, lead the Indian delegation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) ‘Heads of Government’ (HoG) meeting in Islamabad on October 15-16. This marks the first visit by an Indian External Affairs Minister to Pakistan since Sushma Swaraj’s trip in December 2015. The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the Jaishankar SCO visit during a weekly press briefing on Friday.
Maldives President’s India Visit Before Jaishankar’s Visit
Ahead of the Jaishankar-Sco visit, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu will arrive in India from October 7 to October 10. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared that this will be President Muizzu’s first bilateral visit to India since assuming office. He is scheduled to visit Mumbai and Bengaluru, apart from holding discussions in New Delhi
