New York Jets Edge Rusher Hasan Redi He’s the NFL’s last remaining player — and his head coach isn’t worried about his absence.
“I mean, it’s like finding a coin in the couch, right?” Robert Saleh said with a laugh Tuesday, agreeing that Reddick’s report would be a bonus at this point.
“But, no, he is a special football player. And when he comes here, when he finally comes here, he will only help us,” Saleh continued.

Since the Jets haven’t seen Redick in a football setting yet, they could try to promote the idea that he’s a luxury. But they gave up a 2026 conditional third-round pick to acquire his contract, which is to pay him a non-guaranteed $14.25 million in 2024 — so they obviously have big plans for him.
On Aug. 12, Redick, who wants a contract extension that would make him one of the highest-paid edge players, requested a trade. The Jets have said they have no plans to trade him. General manager Joe Douglas said last week that he would not negotiate with Redick’s agent until Redick reports to the team.

“It’s really all going to depend on how he looks, if and when he comes in,” Saleh said. “We’ll get him some work with the training staff, see where he’s at and then communicate that and work on what we can figure out.”
Saleh insisted he wasn’t disappointed with the 43-day absence, and expressed confidence in his other defensive linemen.
