Maharashtra Government seeks hike- Proposes Income Limit Increase for Non-Creamy Layer

In a strategic move ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, the Maharashtra cabinet has decided to request the central government to raise the income limit for the non-creamy layer category from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15 lakh per annum. The proposed hike is expected to influence voter sentiments, especially among the OBC and SC communities.

Similar Moves in Haryana Before Polls

This decision follows a similar trend set by CM Nayab Singh Saini in Haryana before the elections there, where the income limit for the creamy layer was raised from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. Political experts believe this played a significant role in securing the BJP the OBC and SC vote, resulting in a win of 48 seats in the Haryana polls.
