In a major counterinsurgency operation, Indian security forces killed at least 31 suspected Maoist rebels in the Abujhmad forest, located on the border of Narayanpur and Dantewada districts in Chhattisgarh. The operation, which was initiated on Thursday, escalated into a nine-hour firefight on Friday.
Details of the Operation
Acting on intelligence reports, security forces surrounded approximately 50 suspected rebels. The confrontation led to the recovery of several weapons, including automatic rifles. According to Inspector General Pattilingam Sundarraj, no casualties or injuries were reported among government forces. Search operations are ongoing in the forest area.
