McLaren In 2027, the World Dheeraj Championship (WeC) has confirmed the plan to enter Hypercar class. With this, the brand will aim to the first 24 hours of Le Mans race in 29 years for its overall win. Last time it ran into the top class of endurance racing, returning in 1998.

McLaren LMDH is working on race car

McLaren will become the 11th producer to join the WeC Hypercar class. Eight manufacturers – FerrariAlpine, BMWCadilac, ToyotaPeugeot, PorscheAnd Aston Martin – Currently compete in this category. They will join Origin in 2026 And Ford and McLaren in 2027.

It is understood that McLaren will opt for the rules of LMDH (Le Mans Dayona), where cars are based on LMP 2 machinery. It has allegedly participated with Italian constructor Dalara, which also provides chassis for cadilac and BMW.

There is no word on the fact that McLaren is also planning to run in the USA’s IMSA Championship. This year’s Le Mans Race is expected to come close to this year in June.

This year, 30 years after McLaren’s famous Le Mans won in 1995, F1 GTR (run by JJ Leho, Yanik Dalmas and Masanari Servia) won the race early. Three and F1 GTR ended in the top five.

The manufacturer left WEC at the end of the 1998 season and returned only last year, competing in the new LMGT3 category with the 720s GT3 EVO.

McLaren’s CEO Zak Brown shared that the team will target for triple crown of Motorsport in 2027 – the same year F1 is expected to win Monaco GP, Indy 500 Race and 24 -hour Le Mans.

Brown said, “30 years ago, we made a car in a car, which was not even for the race.” “This is the only team in history for us, which has won the Triple Crown – Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500 and 24 hours Le Mans. And now, with this exciting news, we are going to win and win these three big races in the same year. We are ready for it, we are ready, we will see you on the track.”
