New Delhi: Union Health Minister JP Nadda will on Friday launch a dashboard that will assist healthcare facilities across the country in monitoring compliance with prescribed standards of healthcare delivery. The Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) guidelines, introduced in 2007 and updated from time to time with the latest update in 2022, set quality standards for public healthcare facilities from primary to secondary level healthcare facilities, officials said.

These standards ensure consistent, accessible and accountable healthcare services across the country. It states that all public health institutions are encouraged to conduct assessments and make efforts to bridge the identified gaps.

Two other initiatives — a virtual NQAS assessment for Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM) sub-centres and a new functionality for instant issuance of licences and registrations through Food Safety and Compliance System (FOSCOS) — will also be launched by Nadda on Friday, he said.

The new initiative represents a significant innovation in the quality assurance framework for public health facilities as a time and cost saving measure.

Through this system, virtually assessed health AAM-SCs will be provided with NQAS (National Quality Assurance Standards) certificates. NQAS will be issued for Integrated Public Health Laboratories (IPHLs) located in district hospitals during the programme.

The standards will improve the quality and efficiency of management and testing systems at IPHL, which will have a positive impact on the reliability of test results and help win the confidence of physicians, patients and the public regarding laboratory results. Revised guidelines for rejuvenation will also be issued on Friday, the statement said.

“A new functionality will also be introduced for instant issuance of licences and registrations through Food Safety and Compliance System (FoSCoS). FoSCoS is a state-of-the-art, pan-India IT platform designed to meet all food safety regulatory requirements,” it added.

“This innovative system simplifies the licensing and registration process, and provides an improved user experience,” the statement said.
