The government has announced the first list of Padma Shri awardees for 2025, recognizing individuals who have significantly impacted society. From Harvinder Singh, the first Indian para-archer to win Paralympic gold, to Libia Lobo Sardesai, a freedom fighter who mobilized Goa’s independence movement, this year’s list celebrates both unsung heroes and renowned achievers.
Unsung Heroes Receive Well-Deserved Recognition
Awardees include L Hangthing, a fruit farmer from Nagaland who has mastered non-native fruit cultivation, and Bhim Singh Bhavesh, a social worker who has uplifted the marginalized Musahar community for over two decades. Neerja Bhatla, a gynecologist specializing in cervical cancer prevention, and P Datchanamoorthy, a Thavil percussion expert, have also been honored.
