Opposition Questions PM Modi’s Visit to Chief Justice’s Home

A political row erupted after Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a Ganesh Puja at the residence of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud. The event, which took place at the CJI’s home in Delhi, has drawn criticism from a section of Opposition leaders, who claim that the meeting sends an “uncomfortable message.”

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi shared a photograph of himself, CJI Chandrachud, and his wife, Kalpana Das, praying before the Ganesh idol, adding, “May Bhagwan Shri Ganesh bless us all with happiness, prosperity, and wonderful health.”

Opposition Criticizes, BJP Defends the Move

Sanjay Raut, leader of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), questioned the propriety of such meetings, suggesting that the Chief Justice should recuse himself from any case related to the ongoing Shiv Sena conflict. He stated that the meeting between the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice “raises doubts.”

In response, the ruling BJP dismissed the criticism, emphasizing that attending religious events is neither unusual nor improper. The party noted that judges and politicians frequently share public spaces for various events.
