The LSG-SRH Heated Duel prompted BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla to intervene, addressing the escalating drama surrounding Rathi’s Suspension Clash.
But that was not the end of the episode. LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya stopped Abhishek during the post-match handshake between the two teams and struck up a brief conversation with the India T20I batsman. Despite shaking hands, Abhishek and Rathi continued to argue verbally.
But as the conversation appeared to be heating up once more, Dahiya entered from behind and gave Abhishek a casual slap.
Later, Shukla became a mediator after the match and was spotted discussing the matter with both Abhishek and Rathi.
Tensions Resolved – “All’s well now…”
Abhishek talked about his altercation with Rathi on the field after his game-winning performance in Lucknow helped Sunrisers defeat Lucknow. He said that the two players spoke after the game and everything was fine.
“I spoke to him after the game, and it is all good now (on his altercation with Digvesh),” he said in the post-match presentation.
Abhishek’s scorching 20-ball knock, which set up Sunrisers’ six-wicket victory—their only victory of the season—featured six maximums and four boundaries.
He went on to discuss his batting, saying, “We had a clear plan to chase such a total, but if we batted first, I might have had other plans. Any player who has been performing well for the team will tell you that you should be able to win the powerplay if you chase 200 or more. I wanted to express myself, and I’m confident that the team will succeed if I do well. I used the same strategy when playing international cricket. Simply put, I want to express myself and knock it around.”
