Parag’s Six-Sixes Feat made Riyan Parag the first IPL batter to smash six consecutive sixes, achieving this milestone during Rajasthan Royals’ chase against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in IPL 2025. In Riyan’s Record-Breaking Over, he set a new record by surpassing Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Rinku Singh, who each hit five consecutive sixes.
Interestingly, all of these achievements took place in the second inning, which heightened the tension of RR’s explosive chase. We examine each of these outstanding incidents that lighted up the IPL below.
Riyan Parag
RR vs KKR, Eden Gardens, IPL 2025
After 12 overs, the Rajasthan Royals were struggling at 102 for 5 while chasing 207. After Shimron Hetmyer singled Moeen Ali’s opening ball in the thirteenth over, Riyan Parag came to the crease and unleashed Parag’s Six-Sixes Feat. The following four balls were smashed over long-on or square-leg by Parag. Desperate to get out of Parag’s arc, Moeen bowled a wide, but Parag continued his explosive hitting by smashing the next ball over long-off.
Hetmyer singled off the first ball once more in the following over, and Parag completed six straight sixes by backward-sweeping Varun Chakravarthy.
Despite Moeen’s Tough Over, RR’s heroics in their thrilling chase came up short, and they lost to KKR at Eden Gardens by a single run.
Chris Gayle
RCB vs PW, Chinnaswamy Stadium, IPL 2012
Chris Gayle was chasing 183 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors at a steady 41 off 36 when the required rate jumped to 13.37 after 12 overs, paving the way for an accomplishment that would rival Parag’s Six-Sixes Feat. Gayle blasted the next five deliveries for five sixes after Saurabh Tiwary took a single off the opening ball of legspinner Rahul Sharma.
Gayle’s explosive over was unabated even after Rahul switched to around-the-wicket after three sixes. Gayle was dismissed for 81 off 48, but RCB overcame Rahul Sharma’s struggles in RCB’s dramatic chase to win an exciting match off the final ball and make a lasting impression on IPL history.
Kieron Pollard
MI vs SRH, Wankhede, IPL 2013
When Cameron White, the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, gave the ball to Thisara Perera, the Mumbai Indians were facing a daunting 62 runs off four overs. After hitting the first ball for a six, Rohit Sharma took a single. Kieron Pollard wreaked havoc, hitting three straight sixes and a four to make it a 29-run over that perfectly embodied Pollard’s Explosive Over. Following a single from Amit Mishra, Pollard hit two more sixes in his next bowl.
A dot came next, but Mishra scored 40 runs off eight balls after his waist-high no-ball was hit for another six. With three balls remaining, MI’s Thrilling Chase helped them win the chase, and Perera’s Costly Spell was the game-changing move.
Rinku Singh
KKR vs GT, Ahmedabad, IPL 2023
Before Rinku Singh repeated Parag’s Six-Sixes Feat, no team had ever reached the record of 29 runs off the final over against Gujarat Titans in a Twenty20 match. The previous best was 23. Yash Dayal’s opening ball was singled by Umesh Yadav, resulting in a 28-run requirement from five. Rinku smashed five consecutive sixes after Dayal lost his cool and delivered three full tosses and two short balls, enabling KKR to make a historic chase of 205.
Dayal’s Wayward Bowling drove this incredible finish, which solidified Rinku’s Miracle Over in IPL history and was one of cricket’s most breathtaking endings.
