Satyendar Jain Bail: Former Delhi Health Minister Released After 2 Years
Former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain has been granted bail by a local court in a money laundering case. Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over two years ago. In May 2023, the Supreme Court had granted him interim bail on medical grounds, but he returned to Tihar jail after being denied regular bail in March.
Court’s Decision on Satyendar Jain’s Bail
The special judge, Vishal Gogne, cited delays in the trial and Jain’s long incarceration as reasons for granting the relief, stating, “Considering the delay in trial and long incarceration of 18 months, and the fact that the trial will take a long time to start, let alone conclude, the accused is favourably suited for the relief.”
Other AAP Leaders Granted Bail
Satyendar Jain is the third AAP leader to receive bail in recent times, following Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, both accused of money laundering in connection to a new liquor policy for Delhi.
