The Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed to probe allegations of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry, on Wednesday (August 28, 2024) met a female actor, who has made allegations against four actors, two production controllers and a lawyer, at her apartment in Aluva in Kerala’s Ernakulam district.
The team led by DIG Ajitha Begum was recording the statement of the petitioner, who had sent seven separate petitions to the SIT through email on Tuesday. On her arrival, Ms. Begum told the media that the SIT would thoroughly investigate all the complaints. She was accompanied by SIT member and AIG of coastal police G. Poonkuzhali.
The decision to register a case or not on the petitions will be taken based on the statements of the petitioner. The complaints relate to incidents that are more than a decade old.
Another former junior artiste also sent two petitions to the SIT on Tuesday against an actor and a director.
The SIT, at a meeting held at the state police headquarters on Tuesday, decided to take over all cases related to sexual harassment allegations in the Malayalam film industry.
