Spain cricket team has registered a huge world record to its name. For this big achievement, the team left behind India and Afghanistan and eventually also left behind Malaysia and Bermuda. Spain has become the first men’s team to win 14 consecutive matches in T20 cricket history. The team achieved this feat by winning by seven wickets over Greece in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Europe Qualifier Group C match in Port Soif on Sunday. The team’s winning streak started with a victory over the Isle of Man in February last year.
Spain leads the list with most consecutive T20I wins, followed by Bermuda and Malaysia with 13 wins each. India and Afghanistan top the Test-playing nations with 12 consecutive T20I wins each.
Notably, the overall record for most consecutive T20I wins is held by Thailand Women, who have won 17 times.
Talking about international cricket, Bangladesh registered a historic 10-wicket win over Pakistan in the first Test match played in Rawalpindi. This victory was the first victory of the Bangla Tigers against Pakistan in this format of cricket.
This historic win came after 14 matches with Pakistan, in which Bangladesh had lost 12 matches and drawn only one match. This was also Bangladesh’s first 10-wicket win in Test matches.
A day after the match, Pakistan were deducted six points in the World Test Championship (WTC) table while Bangladesh were fined three points for maintaining a slow over-rate during the game.
Pakistan were deducted six World Test Championship points and fined 30 per cent of their match fee for bowling six overs short of the target.
Bangladesh were found to be three overs short and were docked three World Test Championship points and fined 15 per cent of their match fee.
