NTA announces new dates for UGC-NET, CSIR UGC-NET, NCET exams

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday night announced new dates for cancelled and postponed exams, including the UGC-NET. India on Friday criticised the US State Department's report on international religious freedom for 2023, calling it “deeply biased” and saying it reflects a “one-sided projection of issues”. During the weekly press briefing, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the report questions the “integrity” of some legal decisions of Indian courts and highlights the United States' own record in dealing with domestic hate crimes.

Coal, electricity boost core output in May

Production growth in India's eight core infrastructure sectors slowed to 6.3% in May, from a 6.7% increase in April. Double-digit growth in coal and electricity generation offset contractions in three sectors, including cement and fertilizers.

RBI increases WMA limit of States/UTs by 28% to ₹60,118 crore

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday raised the Wages and Means Advances (WMA) limit of state governments and Union Territories to ₹60,118 crore from ₹47,010 crore. “Taking into account the recommendations of the Group constituted by the Reserve Bank and comprising select State Finance Secretaries and the expenditure data of States for recent years, it has been decided to revise the WMA limit of State Governments/Union Territories with effect from July 1, 2024,” RBI said in a circular.
