Stylish Indian batsman Virat Kohli shared a heartfelt note to his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma a day after he beat South Africa by seven runs in the last over to win the T20 World Cup 2024 and end an 11-year wait for an ICC title at Kensington Oval in Barbados. India go into the title clash with South Africa on Saturday as one of the two undefeated teams. Player of the Match Virat Kohli stepped up when it was needed the most with a 59-ball 76 to help India post a competitive 176/7, the highest total in a men's T20 World Cup final. He shared a 72-run stand for the fourth wicket with Axar Patel, who scored 47 off 31 balls

Virat shared a post on Instagram with a picture of his wife and wrote, “My love, none of this would have been possible without you. You keep me humble and grounded and always tell me how it is with utmost honesty. I am as grateful to you as you are to me. Thank you and I love you @anushkasharma.”


In response, South Africa were in a position to chase the target. But Hardik brought India back into the match by dismissing Heinrich Klaasen and restricting South Africa to 169/8, ending an 11-year-long global trophy drought. Pandya starred with 3-20 and Player of the Tournament Jasprit Bumrah took 2-18.

After playing a match-winning innings for his team, Kohli announced his retirement from the T20 format as well. Thus, his T20 career ended as the second-highest run-scorer for India in this format. He has scored 4188 runs in 125 matches at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 137.04.
