Crime thriller by Justin Kurzel Order The film made a strong debut at the Venice Film Festival, earning a 10-minute standing ovation from the Sala Grande audience. Kurzel was joined at the film’s world premiere by stars such as Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan and Jurnee Smollett, who celebrated the warm reception by hugging the gallery audience.
Order It is a gripping tale set in the Pacific Northwest in the 1980s, detailing a series of bank robberies and carjackings that terrorize local communities. Jude Law plays an FBI agent who suspects the crimes are not just financially motivated, but the work of a dangerous domestic terrorist group, the white supremacist gang known as “The Order,” led by Nicholas Hoult’s character. The film is based on the 1989 non-fiction book Silent Brotherhood Written by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhart, the book highlights the confrontation between law enforcement agencies and far-right extremists.
At a press conference earlier in the day, Hoult revealed that he and Law deliberately avoided dialogue during the first four weeks of filming to create tension between their characters. Law underscored the film’s contemporary relevance, saying, “Sadly, the relevance speaks for itself. It felt like a work that should have been made now.”
Kurzel echoed these sentiments, commenting on the film’s reflection of current global divisions and dangerous ideologies, saying these themes are not only relevant to the US, but also resonate in Australia.
Order The film will be released in the US in December, and Amazon Prime Video will handle distribution in several international markets.
