Opener Laura Wolvaardt will lead the 15-member South Africa women's squad for the three-match T20 International series against India starting July 5 in Chennai.

Chloe Tryon, who missed the ODIs and the only Test, is the only addition to the squad as she returns from a back injury.

Allrounders Delmy Tucker and Nondumiso Shangase will leave the touring squad after the one-day and one-off Test, which South Africa lost by 10 wickets on Monday.

South Africa were also beaten by India in the three-match ODI series, which was played before the one-off Test.

“We are excited with the 15-member squad we have selected for the T20 series. Chloe has also been brought back into the squad after recovering from injury,” South Africa head coach Dillon du Preez said in a statement released by Cricket South Africa. “She brings a lot of experience to the squad and we can't wait to see her back on the field.”

“Our last three T20 matches are against India. This will give us time to consider one or two options before we go home and start final preparations for the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh,” he said.

“While selecting the squad for the upcoming T20 series against India, we focused on maintaining continuity and keeping the same group based on our strengths and cohesion,” said Clinton du Preez, convenor of the South Africa Women's selection committee.

“This approach will give us an opportunity to refine our strategies and enhance the team dynamics, which is vital in our preparation for the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh,” he added.

“Our aim is to provide our players with a platform to gain valuable experience and showcase their skills, ensuring we are well prepared for the challenges ahead.

“The return of Chloe Tryon is a significant milestone, and we are confident this team will perform with the same determination and excellence that defines Proteas women’s cricket.”

The first T20 match will be played on July 5, followed by matches on July 7 and 9 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
