He responded to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s accusations about Kashmir and emphasized that Pakistan must vacate its illegal occupation of the region.
Jaishankar Warns Pakistan: ‘Actions Have Consequences for Cross-Border Terrorism’
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in a bold address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), cautioned Pakistan that “Actions Have Consequences for Cross-Border Terrorism.” He criticized Islamabad’s continued support for terrorism, making it clear that such policies will not be tolerated by India or the global community. His response was aimed at Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s earlier comments accusing India of escalating tensions in Kashmir.
‘Pakistan Must Vacate Occupied Kashmir,’ Says Jaishankar
Jaishankar reiterated that the primary issue to be resolved between India and Pakistan is the “vacation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir” and not the situation in Jammu and Kashmir as suggested by Sharif. He stressed that Pakistan’s unlawful occupation of Kashmir, coupled with its state-sponsored terrorism, is the root cause of instability in the region.
‘Terrorism Exported as an Economic Strategy’
Taking a firm stance, Jaishankar highlighted that Pakistan’s misguided policies are harming not just its neighbors but its own economic growth. “When a country’s only significant export is terrorism, it shows a severe lack of vision for its people and future,” he remarked, criticizing Pakistan’s reliance on extremist ideologies as a means to exert influence.
‘Consequences Will Follow,’ Jaishankar Warns Pakistan
In his concluding remarks, Jaishankar emphasized that Pakistan’s “Actions Have Consequences for Cross-Border Terrorism,” urging the international community to take a unified stand against state-sponsored terrorism. He reinforced that India is prepared to respond to any threats and will continue to advocate for regional peace and stability.
