Shan Masood’s Century Lifts Pakistan Against England
Captain Shan Masood marked his return to form with a brilliant century to guide Pakistan to 233-1 at tea on the opening day of the first Test against England in Multan. Masood, who had not scored a hundred in 14 Tests since 2020, reached his fifth Test century off just 102 balls, including two sixes and 11 fours.
Strong Partnership with Shafique
Alongside Abdullah Shafique, who is unbeaten on 94, Masood helped Pakistan recover after the early loss of Saim Ayub (4). The pair’s unbroken 225-run stand for the second wicket kept England’s pace and spin attack at bay on a batting-friendly pitch.
Steady Start After Early Setback
Earlier, Pakistan were 122-1 at lunch, with Masood on 61 and Shafique on 53. England struck early when Gus Atkinson dismissed Ayub in the fourth over, but Pakistan’s batsmen steadied the innings, putting their team in a commanding position.
