Blast Near CRPF School Sends Shockwaves Through Paschim Vihar

On Sunday morning, a loud explosion rocked Delhi’s Paschim Vihar, startling residents of Rohini. The blast occurred near a CRPF school and sent shockwaves through homes hundreds of meters away. Locals described thick white smoke and a strong chemical-like smell in the aftermath, with many fearing the worst.

Immediate Response from Authorities

Emergency responders, including the National Security Guard (NSG) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the blast. Although there were no casualties, nearby shops, cars, and parts of the school suffered significant damage. The authorities are now examining CCTV footage to piece together the events leading up to the explosion, which is suspected to have been caused by a crude bomb.

Residents Recount the Explosion

Kiran Sachdeva, a resident of the area, likened the explosion’s force to an earthquake, while Himanshu Kohli, a local shopkeeper, recounted running toward the blast site, only to be met with smoke and shattered glass. Many residents expressed relief that the incident occurred on a Sunday when schools were closed, fearing what could have happened if it had been a weekday.

With Karwa Chauth and Diwali celebrations underway, residents are on edge, fearing what could have happened if the blast had occurred later in the day when the area would have been crowded. The community remains uneasy as investigations continue, with lingering questions about the cause and potential future threats.
