Sakshi Malik, one of India’s top women wrestlers, will come out with her memoir in October, in which she will “honestly narrate” her life – the highs and lows and everything in between. Published by Juggernaut Books, “Witness” is co-authored by Jonathan Selvaraj. In her vivid memoir, Malik narrates the story from her childhood, her introduction to wrestling in Rohtak, her victory at the Rio Olympics, her post-Olympic journey, her struggles and triumphs over injuries and self-doubt, and finally, her recent public fight on the streets of New Delhi with the administration of the Wrestling Foundation of India (WFI).

Her story encompasses interesting insights into the world of women’s wrestling in India – training, camp life, body image, dating, finances and what it takes to become an elite international wrestler, Juggernaut said in a statement.

Malik says of her literary masterpiece, “It is a very honest account of my life – the ups and downs and everything in between. I have given my all in this book and I hope readers will love it.” According to publisher Chiki Sarkar of Juggernaut Books, “Witness” is “one of the great memoirs of our time – Sakshi has written a book without any holds”.

He added, “This book not only talks about his struggles with the Indian Wrestling Foundation but also brings to life his childhood, the world of wrestling and what it took to become an Olympic medallist. We are extremely proud to publish this milestone book.”

Malik retired from professional wrestling in December 2023. At the time, she was India’s most famous female wrestler – the first and only woman to win an Olympic medal, with many more to come.
