A BoB depression over the west-central and southwest Bay of Bengal has resulted in heavy rainfall across Chennai and parts of Tamil Nadu. Moving west-northwestward at 14 km/h, the system crossed the coast between Puducherry and Nellore on the night of October 16, just north of Chennai. By midnight, it weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area over south-coastal Andhra Pradesh and north-coastal Tamil Nadu.

Kerala and South Interior Karnataka: Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy showers over Kerala on October 17 and in south interior Karnataka from October 17-18.

The BoB depression has triggered squally weather, with wind speeds of 25-35 km/h, gusting up to 45 km/h, expected along the Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh coasts. Moderate to rough sea conditions are likely in the west-central Bay of Bengal and along these coastal regions
