ASHBURN, Virginia — The Washington Post Commanders An employee was fired after a video surfaced in which he made anti-gay comments about the team’s players. Cowboys He accused owner Jerry Jones of being racist and called NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a “50 million dollar puppet.”
Rael Entin, Washington’s vice president of content for the past four years, also criticized fans, calling them “mouth breathers.”
The team confirmed the dismissal through a spokesperson on Thursday but had no other comment on the matter.
Washington suspended Ntin on Wednesday, shortly after a video from O’Keefe Media Group was played on social media platforms. According to the video, Ntin met the woman on the dating app Hinge, but she turned out to be undercover for the media group. They met twice at restaurants in D.C. in June
In a statement Wednesday, the team said it would investigate the matter. Less than 24 hours later, they fired Ntinen.
“The language used in the video is contrary to our values at the Commanders organization,” a Commanders spokesperson said in an initial statement.
Entin told the undercover reporter that “over 50% of the people on our roster are white religious people, and God says, ‘Fuck the gays.’ That’s their interpretation. I don’t believe any of that. Another large portion is low-income African Americans who come from a community that is inherently very anti-gay.”
He also said, “I don’t think the commissioner of the NFL hates gay people, hates black people. Jerry Jones, who actually runs the NFL, I think he hates gay people, hates black people.”
Entin, who was with Jet Serving in the position for two years before coming to Washington, he called the league’s social justice initiatives “performative.”
“This is not done out of the goodness of their hearts,” he said. “This is done because George Floyd changed the game. … This is done to make the most money. The NFL, like any other corporation, is the most profitable.”
Entin said that because the league makes a lot of money, it “can afford to prioritize DEI for the sake of good publicity.”
He also said in the video that “most of the fans are alcoholics educated up to high school level” and called them “mouth breathers”.
In the video, Entin also said that some players are “idiots” and that some who are smart don’t remain that way even after getting hit in the head multiple times. He also said that people who get “hit in the head multiple times” are more susceptible to conspiracy theories.
Ntinen also told the reporter, who was not named and can be heard but not seen in the video, that his job was to sell hope. Three years ago, there was video of leaking pipes at the then-FedEx Stadium. Fans said it smelled like sewage, but Ntinen said he tweeted to say it was just water.
