FIR Filed Against Mohammed Zubair Over Tweet on Yati Narsinghanand
Mohammed Zubair, co-founder of Alt News, has been named in an FIR by the Ghaziabad Police. The case, filed on Monday, accuses Zubair of allegedly promoting enmity between religious groups through a Tweet involving Hindutva supremacist Yati Narsinghanand. The FIR follows a complaint lodged by an aide of Narsinghanand, the priest of the Dasna Devi temple in Uttar Pradesh.
The controversy erupted after Narsinghanand reportedly made derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad during a sermon on September 29, sparking protests by Muslim groups. Zubair’s October 3rd Tweet, which shared a video of the sermon, demanded legal action against Narsinghanand. Multiple FIRs have also been filed against Narsinghanand for hate speech targeting Muslims.
