India Hits Back at Pakistan PM at UNGA – India exercised its Right of Reply at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) after Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif raised the Kashmir issue in his speech. India’s response labeled Sharif’s statement as “hypocrisy at its worst” and highlighted Pakistan’s global reputation for terrorism and transnational crime.
India Hits Back at Pakistan PM at UNGA Over Kashmir Remarks
During the ongoing 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), India exercised its Right of Reply to respond sharply to Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif’s statements on Jammu and Kashmir. Sharif, in his speech, raised concerns about the region, accusing India of human rights violations. However, India’s representative, Bhavika Mangalanandan, rebuffed these claims, calling it a textbook example of “hypocrisy at its worst.”
India Hits Back at Pakistan PM at UNGA: Pakistan’s Misplaced Allegations
India’s counter-response at the UNGA emphasized Pakistan’s own global image and internal issues. Mangalanandan noted that a country with a history of military dominance, terrorism, and illegal trade should refrain from lecturing the world’s largest democracy on human rights. India’s firm stance at the UNGA came as no surprise, given the longstanding diplomatic tensions between the two nations.
Raises Pakistan’s Internal Issues
In its rebuttal, India highlighted Pakistan’s economic instability, rising internal strife, and consistent role in fostering terrorism across the region. “It is ironic that Pakistan, a country with a collapsing economy, widespread insurgency, and a reputation for harboring global terrorists, seeks to preach about democracy and human rights,” stated Mangalanandan. The response aimed to shift the focus back to Pakistan’s deteriorating internal conditions.
Calls for Accountability
The exchange at the UNGA marks yet another instance where India has had to exercise its Right of Reply to counter Pakistan’s rhetoric on Jammu and Kashmir. “Pakistan’s remarks are a desperate attempt to divert attention from its own dismal track record on human rights,” India concluded, urging the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for its actions.
