India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been named ICC Cricketer of the Year 2024, winning the Sir Garfield Sobers Award. Bumrah overcame stiff competition from fellow nominees Travis Head, Joe Root, and Harry Brook to earn this accolade.

Outstanding Performance in 2024

Bumrah delivered a stellar performance throughout the year, claiming 71 wickets with an average of 14.92 and a strike rate of 30.1. He also completed 200 Test wickets during India’s tour of Australia and emerged as the Player of the Series in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with 32 wickets in five Tests.

A Historic Milestone for India

Bumrah is the fifth Indian cricketer to win this prestigious title, joining legends like Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Virat Kohli. Earlier this week, he was also named ICC Test Cricketer of the Year and was featured in the ICC Test Team of the Year.
