J&K Statehood Restoration Resolution Passed by Cabinet
In its first cabinet meeting on Thursday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s government passed a resolution urging the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-led central government to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The resolution was drafted by the National Conference, following the party’s victory with 42 seats in the recent assembly elections.
Chief Minister Abdullah is expected to travel to New Delhi to present the resolution to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The resolution represents a significant move towards reclaiming Jammu and Kashmir’s full statehood status, which was previously revoked.
