Renault India Chennai has inaugurated a state -of -the -art new design center at its technology and trade center outside Tamil Nadu. The result of investment of 1.5 million euros (Rs 14.68 crore), this feature is the second largest global design studio of the French car brand after its major convenience in Paris.

Brand’s first design studio in the country is not
The Renault Design Center Chennai (RDCC) was inaugurated by Laurence Van Den Acker, Chief Design Van of Renault Group, Renault India VP of Sales and Marketing Francisco Hidalgo, Renault India CEO and MD Venkatram Maimilpal and India Design Studio Head Julian Subtier.
However, this is not Renault’s first design studio in India. It was inaugurated in 2005 at the beginning of the brand operating India in Pune, before it opened its manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. Since then, there is one in Mumbai and one in Chennai, which has been converted into a new feature.

New ‘R-Store’ showrooms are also being opened
The brand asked for this new feature at its ‘Renaissance’ event in 2024, where it confirmed the launch of five new model for India in the next two years and rollout of the identity of a new brand, which includes a completely ‘R-Store’ showroom. It is also part of one Large innings within the Renault Nissan allianceIn which the Japanese brand has excluded manufacturing JV at the Tamil Nadu plant, giving Renault complete control.
The new design center has technology and features with other global design studios of Renault and was designed to tap in a huge pool of design talent available in India. It facilitates the choice of VR setup to help the model in 3D, to display the design in 1: 1 size and virtual cooperation terminals to co-design the 8.5×2.4m ‘LED wall’ in real time with other design studios.

What is interesting that the new feature will not only design cars for India ( New duster It is expected to receive your own Indian touch) but also for Europe and other markets. In fact, the recently launched Renault R4 and R5 EVS in Europe were designed in collaboration with the previous Chennai Studio.
Renault Rhethink
As a celebration of its opening, Renault unveiled the reconsideration – designed within the RDCC and a sculpture manufactured, which aims to integrate French and Indian culture as well as a symbol of traditional and digital design techniques. Impressing the basic silhouette of an SUV, the screen is displayed in Rithink that displays abstract patterns that are a large part of the design process, as well as words in both English and Devanagari scripts.
