Samit DravidSon of former Indian captain and head coach Rahul DravidOn Saturday, Samit was included in India’s Under-19 squad for the upcoming multi-format series against Australia. However, he will not be able to play in the 2026 Under-19 World Cup. Samit was born on 10 November 2005 and is just two months away from his 19th birthday. So, when the 2026 Under-19 World Cup takes place, he will be over 20 years old.
The three-match ODI series will be played in Puducherry on September 21, 23 and 26 and India will be led by Uttar Pradesh’s Mohammad Aman. The series will then move to Chennai for two four-day matches starting on September 30 and October 7. The Indian team will be captained by Madhya Pradesh’s Soham Patwardhan for this leg of the tour.
Fast bowling all-rounder Samit is currently playing for Mysore Warriors in the ongoing KSCA Maharaja T20 Trophy in Bengaluru.
However, his form with the bat has been nothing special so far – 82 runs in seven innings with a highest score of 33, and he is yet to bowl in the tournament.
But earlier this year, Samit had performed well in the Cooch Behar Trophy and played a key role in Karnataka’s maiden title win in the tournament.
The 18-year-old scored 362 runs in eight matches and his 98-run innings against Jammu and Kashmir was notable for its quality and fluency.
This tournament was also memorable for Samit in terms of bowling, where he took 16 wickets in eight matches, including two wickets in the final against Mumbai.
