Road Closures and Traffic Diversions for PM Modi’s Visit to Pune

Pune City Traffic Police have issued road closures and traffic diversions ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on Thursday. The changes, announced by DCP Traffic Amol Zende, will take effect from 3 pm onwards and remain in place until the VVIP convoy has passed. Officials expect heavy rain, combined with traffic stoppages, to create potential disruptions across the city.

Key Traffic Changes Announced

To manage the flow of vehicles during the visit, several major roads in Pune will face restrictions. Parking bans and the entry of heavy vehicles will be enforced on 13 main roads. Additionally, for 24 hours starting Thursday, parking will be prohibited on 10 key routes. The road closures and traffic diversions are intended to ensure smooth passage for the Prime Minister’s convoy and mitigate traffic buildup.

PM Modi’s Itinerary in Pune

At approximately 6 pm, Prime Minister Modi will flag off a metro train at District Court Station. The train is scheduled to run from District Court to Swargate. Later, at 6:30 pm, he will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone, and dedicate multiple projects worth over Rs 22,900 crore to the nation. Among these projects is a memorial at Bhidewada, commemorating Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s first girls’ school.

Traffic Changes in Swargate and Surrounding Areas

In the Swargate area, the road closures and traffic diversions will heavily impact key roads. The stretch from Savarkar Statue Square to Sarasbaug Puram Chowk will be closed to all traffic. Alternate routes have been arranged through Sinhagad Road and Mitramandal Chowk to alleviate congestion in the area.
