Sharmila Tagore expressed happiness over Gulmohar winning the National Film Award

It’s a big day for the team Gulmohar. Directed by Rahul V. Chittella, the film won the Best Hindi Film award at the 70th Hindi Film Festival. Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, who made her OTT debut Gulmohar, spoke to NDTV and shared his happiness. He said, “Thank you so much. We did not expect this. I am very happy. It is very well deserved. Rahul V Chittela is a first-time director. The journey of the film has been amazing because of the audience response to everything… And, then the multiple awards from all platforms. Obviously, the National Award is the icing on the cake. And, I am absolutely thrilled with it… Manoj (Bajpayee) also got a special award. Gulmohar It was released directly on the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar. During the interview, Sharmila Tagore was asked if she thinks OTT will prove to be a game-changer for films. She said, “See a film is a film and you can’t really differentiate. Obviously, it’s amazing to watch it on the big screen…it’s not really a comparison. There’s a huge difference between the small screen and the big screen. If we had thought of releasing it in theatres instead of OTT I think it would have been amazing. But at that time we didn’t know, the producers didn’t know that it would be successful. And, a film is a film as I said. Lapata Ladies It was released on the big screen and I am sure if it had released on OTT as well, it would have done very well. Gulmohar “It just happened to come on OTT. Let’s not compare it. There was more interest for our kind of films on OTT.”

Speaking to news agency ANI after the big win, Manoj Bajpayee said, “It is a huge achievement for the entire team and the director, whose debut film won three National Awards.”
