“Won’t be sold even for Rs 130 in IPL”: YouTubers slam Babar Azam after flop show vs Bangladesh

The Pakistan cricket team’s 0-2 defeat at home against Bangladesh in the recently concluded Test series has evoked a variety of reactions. The entire team has been under criticism due to its poor performance in recent months. One of the most criticized players is the charismatic Babar Azam. First in the 2024 T20 World Cup to be held in the USA and West Indies and then in the Test series against Bangladesh, Babar has failed to live up to expectations, leading many to question his skill, temperament and willingness to perform as desired.

Babar became a huge target on social media, with even some Pakistani YouTubers not sparing him. Although Pakistani cricketers are not allowed to participate in the Indian Premier League, YouTubers trolled Babar saying that if he was eligible, he would not have even received Rs 130 as bid.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood admitted the team was not ready for red-ball cricket.

In the post-match press conference, Masood said, “I take responsibility for the defeat and apologize to the country. But I think we need to focus on how we can improve and take our Test team forward.” “There is no excuse for losing this series and we accept it. But it is also a fact that the players also wanted to perform well. But we were not ready for red ball cricket. If we have to move forward, we have to endure some failures.”

Going forward, the Pakistan captain believes the team should try to develop a good pool of fast bowlers.

“The main thing is that we need to increase our stocks in fast bowling and encourage and give consistent opportunities to bowlers who play red-ball cricket regularly,” he said.

Pakistan did not use the services of Shaheen Afridi for the second Test, instead tried some new faces. But, this decision backfired.
