An Air India Express hydraulic failure happened shortly after takeoff from Trichy Airport on Friday evening. The Boeing 737, with 141 passengers onboard, encountered an issue with its landing gear, preventing it from retracting. The crew promptly alerted authorities, and the plane circled over Trichy for nearly two hours to burn off fuel before making a safe landing at 8:15 pm.
Emergency Response and Passenger Safety
Emergency services, including over a dozen ambulances and fire tenders, were deployed to Trichy Airport as a precautionary measure. Foam was sprayed on the runway in case a belly landing was required. Fortunately, the flight landed safely without any injuries.
Civil Aviation Investigation Underway
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu praised the quick response of the crew and emergency teams. An internal investigation has been launched to assess the cause of the hydraulic failure. The airline has been instructed to make onward travel arrangements for all passengers.
