India has stated that ties with Canada cannot be repaired unless the Canadian government, led by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, takes “strict and verifiable action” against individuals actively pursuing anti-India activities. The remarks follow a meeting between PM Modi and PM Trudeau during the ASEAN summit in Laos, marking their second meeting since allegations emerged linking India to the murder of a Khalistani activist in Canada.

Focus on Safety of Indo-Canadians

Trudeau emphasized the ongoing violence affecting Indo-Canadians and highlighted safety as a priority. However, Indian government sources clarified that no “substantive discussion” took place between the two leaders at the summit.
