Travis Kelsey, 35, said the Chiefs wouldn’t have listened to me if they gave me a lesser role

“I probably wouldn’t listen to them if they did,” Kelce said, perhaps jokingly and perhaps not.

Either way, Kelce said he feels as physically prepared for this season as he has been in years.

“You get more comfortable with your body,” Kelce said. “You learn from the mistakes you’ve made over the years and things like that. You just keep getting better and more aware of your body position.

“I’m excited. I get a chance to play another year of football. We get a chance to prove to ourselves and Chiefs Kingdom that we’re one of the top teams and we can play at a high level.”

Kelce joined the Chiefs as a third-round draft pick in 2013. Despite a wide choice of career options beyond football, including acting roles and A deal with Amazon’s Wondery Kelce said he has reportedly earned more than $100 million for hosting the “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason, but he said his passion for football hasn’t waned.

“I love coming here (and) I love football and it just takes me away from life,” Kelce said. “It gives me something I can feel really happy about. I love coming into the building, working on my craft, figuring out a new game plan and making it better for the guys around me. (It) gives me a purpose to go about my day and live my life and I find a lot of excitement doing it.”

“I’ve always been fortunate to be able to play as many games as I have in this league and that’s why I enjoy going out there every day even if it’s just a practice to work on my skills. I know not everybody gets that privilege in their career and I’m ready to rock Week 1 and I’m grateful for that.”
